Mum, dad, Duncan and myself went along to help Kay Newton celebrate her 60th birthday. Just had to share the photo of the 4 of us!

Bits and pieces

Hello there! I am still here. Finding a quite few minutes to myself is getting harder. That’s why I usually try and update this at work! But the kids are in bed and Duncan is asleep on the couch so I am taking the opportunity. I finally went out and bought a laptop. My old PC got to the point where I couldn’t save things and it was so slow., So I have finally arrived in the 21st Century.

Both Maddison and Logan have been sick with chest infections. Maddison had 2 solid weeks of school swimming and she came of second best. Thankfully she has been having swimming lessons for about 4 years so I didn’t feel the least bit guilty when I didn’t send her to 3 of the school lessons. She is almost 100% right but Logan has been unwell for a few nights now. He’s had cropu yet again. Truly awful for him. Hopefully he will be better very soon. Listening to him cough is just awful

We finally booked our holiday to Hong Kong and Singapore today. Mum, dad, Joanne, Carolyn and myself are going. Mum and dad’s retirement present to us three girls. We leave on January 3rd, spend 7 nights in Hong Kong, then 4 nights in Singapore before heading back home on the 14th. I haven’t been to Hong Kong before so I am really looking forward to it. I went to Singapore a few years ago and just loved it. It is such a beautiful island.

Maddison has started doing karate on a Thursday night and she loves it. She told us she would like to do it so we booked her in to see how she would go. I have given the option of not going. I told her that it is her choice to go, not ours, so if she doesn’t want to continue with it she doesn’t have to, but she loves it. She is picking it up really well too apparently. I know nothing about it. So now we have a busy Monday night with Girl Guides and a busy Thursday night with karate. Atleast Guides is in Narre Warren. Karate is in Scoresby about 25 minutes away. But we’re managing! Logan is just interested in becoming a Wiggle at the moment!

Time for bed! Until next time …

My school girl

Here is the first ‘official’ school photo of Maddison:

I am so pleased with how her photos turned out. She practiced all that morning on how she was going to smile. There were some very dodgy smiles indeed!!

I have not been able to find the time to update this blog for a while. Not an excuse I know, maybe I’m just lazy!

We have been fitting a lot into our spare time. The kids have swimming on Sundays and they are both doing really well. Maddison hasn’t been wearing floaties for a while now and Logan has moved up to the next level. Duncan is still in the water with him but not doing as much as he was. Soon he’ll be out of the water altogether and Logan will be in a big boy class. Can’t believe it.
We’ve been taking the kids bowling a bit. Maddison loves it. We put the ball onto the ramp and she gives it an almighty push and gets a strike or spare most times. Logan get to wear bowling shoes in his size too. He thinks he is so special. Doesn’t actually bowl, just wearing the shoes is enough for him!

Before I sign off I just wanted to welcome baby Jacob Adam Booth to the world. Congratulations to Marie, Simon and Ben on his birth. I also wanted to congratulate Stephen and Nofi on the wonderful news that they are expecting their first baby on New Years Day. Wonderful news guys!

That’s it for this post, until next time, take care.

Happy families …

sharon-poster-copy2

We had some photos taken for mum for mother’s day. The above photo is one I have had printed to poster size. I think it is so nice. The photographer has done an awesome job. I am more than happy with all the photos she took. We also had a poster done for mum. She had no idea. All the kids were so good on the day. Unfortunately I haven’t scanned any of the other photos as yet. But I just had to share this one. If anyone is interested in getting Vicki to do some photos for you I can fully recommend her. And she is so cheap too. The who reason she has started up her own business is because she is sick of people being ripped off by photographers. Would you believe the poster (and it is huge!) only cost me $45! Yep, that is all. (I wont tell you how much it cost me to get framed though!!!) Check out her website at http://www.zalanphotography.com/  She is a friend of my sister Joanne.

Once I get around to scanning some of the other photos I’ll put them in another post.

Just have to share …

Another Maddison-ism occurred on the weekend. She was sitting on the couch with a frown on her face touching her forehead. I enquired as to why she looked sad touching her forehead to which she replied “you can’t call it my forehead (four-head) anymore because I’m five now”.

I had a laugh and just couldn’t believe the way in which a childs mind works.

Quick catch up

Well not a lot has happened in the past month or so. I did buy a Thai Buddha water feature which I have named Colin. He is not connected to power yet but I think her looks great sitting there meditating.

Duncan and I have decided to take the kids back to Queensland in October. We got airfares too good to pass up so we thought ‘what the heck’. We’ve booked in to stay at the Diamond Sands resort on the Gold Coast where we stayed last year. We’ve decided not to tell Maddison until the day before we leave becuase it’s already going to be a long enough 7 months without her asking everyday whether were going to Queensland yet!

I’m taking part in the Relay for Life tomorrow night to raise money for cancer research. First time I have done it but I have heard it is a great night.

Maddison is doing great at school. The really good thing is she still enjoys going so I’m hoping that will always be the case.

Logan is a cheeky as ever. Still refuses to go to the toilet or use a potty. Finding it frustrating because Maddison was fully toilet trained before she was 2 and Logan is almost 2 1/2. Any suggestions?

Anyway, til next time.

Take care, Sharon

Happy birthday Maddison!

Maddison turned the big … 5 on Tuesday! We had a party for her on Saturday 7th. OMG! What an absolutely ridiculous day to have it. A balmy 46 degrees! I am now asking myself the question “whay didn’t we just have it on the Sunday instead when we knew that it was going to be so much cooler?” Go figure. I have now decided that she is going to be  a June baby from now on. Right in the middle of winter!

Carolyn and I made the cake the morning of the party. It didn’t take us long but the heat was a factor. We had to put it straight into the fridge. Thankfully everything went in our favour and it transported fine to Hungry Jacks where we had the party.
